What exactly is the players club? Do you have to gamble a certain amount to get coupons or discounts for food, entertainment cover charges...etc? I am
staying at mgm next week...thanks.

The players club card tracks your gambling so the casino knows how much you are betting and on what. How much you gamble and for how long will determine if you get any room offers or any charges taken off your bill at the end of your stay.
Even if you plan on only gambling a tiny bit, still sign up for the card and use it every time you gamble at an MGM/Mirage property. It will put you on their radar and you may get future offers for discounted room rates, at the very least.
