What casino was in ';Casino';

I saw the movie ';Casino'; with Robert Denero and Joe Pesci this weekend on TV. Help me settle an argument. My guess is that they used the Riviera for the casino scenes. My friend says it was the Stardust. The ficticious casino in the film was named ';Tangiers.'; I think one of the towers at the Riviera has that name. Any help?

What casino was in ';Casino';

It was Stardust

The Tangiers Casino is based on The Stardust Resort %26amp; Casino

All based upon events at the Stardust but a lot of the filming did indeed take place at the Riviera.

Michael, I forgot to add in my post that the real Tangiers Tower is at the Sahara.

Low, I posted that Wikipedia link because yours didn%26#39;t appear correctly in your post.

Hmmm...I just clicked on mine and it worked.

Glad you had better info. I scanned the wiki (and others) info and could find nothing about Sahara. Must have had to be more familiar with Sahara for that info.

The anwer is lots of them...

The fictional Tangiers building was located where the Paris now is. The Bally%26#39;s complex is easily seen right next to it and the Dunes (where Bellagio now sits) across the street.

In the first shot, when he is blown up, Ace is walking out of the Main Street Station (even though it really happened at a Marie Calender%26#39;s Restaurant).

The Plaza is used throughout the movie. Sam and Ginger eat in the ';Dome'; there a few times and she is shown in the porte cochere paying off a valet.

When Sam is in his office it is overlooking the Stardust Sports Book.

On-floor casino scenes were shot at Riviera, Bally%26#39;s and there is one at the Trop. A couple must also be on sets becuase I couldn%26#39;t recognize the joint.

I love that movie. We own it and I have seen it a dozen times, and I still watched it on T.v this weekend..lol

Thanks for all the responses. It is a bit more complicated than I thought, but I find all this fascinating.

Hollywood likes the ';Tangiers'; nameplate. I have seen it in other Vegas films. If I am not mistaken, Dennis Farina%26#39;s casino in ';Midnight Run'; was the Tangiers and they used the old Aladdin??
