Wondering about the Flamingo hotel?

Anyone stayed at the Flamingo Hotel?

The rates are great. How is the hotel? Any insider tips?

Wondering about the Flamingo hotel?

Well fellow Texan, all depends on your tastes. Nothing wrong with the Flamingo, just older than the others. Good location good pool, but they do not check room keys so you have others in the pools area.

The rooms are older but comfortable. Like I said great location to go to the newer casinos and then home to rest your head.

Wondering about the Flamingo hotel?

If you type ';Flamingo Las Vegas'; in the search engine on the top left hand, you%26#39;ll see numerous reviews (including my own, if you click on my icon). At last count, it was rated #71 out of the 250 or so hotels. So it%26#39;s not nearly the best, but there are several well-known properties that are further down on the list.

If you like pools, it%26#39;s arguably the 2nd best bargain property with a large pool complex. (Tropicana might be considered #1 for value pools.)

You%26#39;ll be Center Strip so you%26#39;ll be convenient to the most popular Strip casinos.

The crowd is a cross-section of (mostly) middle-aged middle America. No ';hot'; nightclubs but decent entertainment options. It could be freshened up a bit but it appears to be on its way.

They have already started/completed renovation of their rooms. The upgraded GO rooms are fun although they can be an assualt to the senses (of humor) for some. The standard rooms are fine (so I hear) as long as they have been refurbished.

Margaritaville is a fun restaurant. It helps if you like Jimmy Buffet, of course. I like the coffee shop better than the buffet.

If you%26#39;re a spa enthusiast, there are definitely more elaborate ones on the Strip. As a guy, it got the job done for me.

It%26#39;s an older property in the process of reinventing itself. If my visits there weren%26#39;t mostly dictated by the whims of business and social conventions, I%26#39;d consider staying there every time for the reasons listed above.

Olescrap, you may be partially right about the room keys. In my experience, they did check during the day until about 2:00 when it becomes an open house pool party.

Just got back this morning from the Flamingo. I too was nervous about staying there, normally stay at the Paris. The Flamingo was really a pleasant surprise. We had a Go Room with strip view, it was modern, clean, comfortable (very Euro) and we really enjoyed it the only thing pink about the room were 2 feature wall in the bathroom and some mood lighting other than that it is white with brown tones in the room. Also bathroom door is frosted glass and does not lock, you can%26#39;t actually see through the glass but it might make some people nervous about privacy. Check in was easy but I did see some long lines yesterday afternoon.

Booze service was good the entire weekend, Steakhouse 46 was very good, but no STARBUCKS in the hotel.Room service did have a pot of coffee up to us in under 20 minutes and that got us satisfied. Saw George Wallace Show and had a couple of good laughs.

Pool area is really nice but doesn%26#39;t do you much good as they line up for 8am opening and by 9am there are no chairs left to be had. Not much good if you can%26#39;t sit.

Staff seemed friendly and like everyone says it is an older hotel but I liked it and will go back to the Flamingo next time.

It is all relative and you usually get what you pay for. I was there last June and will be back this October. I have stayed at Luxor, Treasure Island, Hilton and Riviera. I do not care to spend $$ for Bellagio or Wynn snob appeal. The Flamingo is wonderfully located. I bring my own cooler and coffee pot. The Go room with bellagio fountain view is cool. I will stay in standard room next time as I plan to spend NO time in room, will be at convention. O%26#39;shays next door has great comedy show with Subway and Burger King for cheap late night bites. Margaritaville is part of property and a hoot. I will always stay at Flamingo even though some of the little nicities went away when Hilton sold it. The pool is awesome and we always find one or two chairs. Get there before 2PM.
