where can i go in a sexy cocktail dress?

i%26#39;m surprising my husband w/ a trip to vegas for his birthday. i%26#39;ve been lurking this forum for the past month for tips. i%26#39;ve bought mystere tickets and we%26#39;re staying at the signature. had i checked out the forum before booking i would%26#39;ve gone w/ a hotel actually ON the strip! i did get an amazing deal though.

i%26#39;ve bought a little black cocktail dress, something i%26#39;d never wear here, but i don%26#39;t know where to go in it. i think it might be a little much for cirque. my hubby is a very picky eater so fancy dinner is out, unless it%26#39;s steak %26amp; potatoes.

any ideas/suggestions?

this forum is amazing and i think our trip will go much smoother thanks to all the tips on here!

where can i go in a sexy cocktail dress?

anywhere in vegas!

where can i go in a sexy cocktail dress?

Absolutely anywhere!!! No matter where you go you will not feel over or under dressed in Vegas. We have been in the casino in the early hours of the morning and seen ladies in head to toe sequins a-la Paris Hilton right next to old men with beards in faded denims and sneakers.

Cocktails at VooDoo Lounge (Rio) or Mix (THEhotel) might be a good idea. Failing that you could always save the dress for later when you%26#39;re back in your room..... :-)

definitely anywhere. one of my favorite things about vegas is that it is nearly impossible to over or underdress for any occassion.

I find that the Wynn tends to attract a more well-dressed clientele. You might check out the Parasol Down bar and the free light show outside. There%26#39;s also a piano player at Baccarat Bar at Bellagio, very nice atmosphere.

You are going to see anything and everything at the casinos, shows and restaurants- from shorts, jeans to business casual to formalwear. You will not be out of place with your little black cocktail dress.

Yep . . . you can wear that dress anywhere you%26#39;re comfortable! I would certainly wear it to Mystere. Keep in mind, however, that the air conditioning in the showrooms and casinos can make for some chilly conditions. You might want to take a shawl, shrug or sweater with you that compliments your dress.

We very often stay at MGM Grand. There are two more quiet lounges there that you%26#39;d be very comfortable in: Zuri Lounge (at the base of the elevators to the Tower rooms) and the West Wing Bar (at the base of the elevators to the West Wing rooms). While we%26#39;ve not visited the Tabu Lounge at MGM, it strikes me as having a similar feel.

The atmosphere at the Peppermill Lounge certainly would be a nice place for such a dress. The cocktail servers there are dressed in long black gowns, slit up to ';here'; and cut down to ';there.';

As you%26#39;re walking through the casinos, you%26#39;ll find lots and lots of places that you%26#39;ll feel appropriate for your little dress :)

You won%26#39;t have any trouble finding a steak and potatoes meal for your husband in Vegas either. We don%26#39;t frequent the high class restaurants of Vegas, so I%26#39;ll let someone else direct you to some that feature ';common'; meat and potatoes type food.

Just north of MGM a bit is Smith and Wollenskys. We%26#39;ve only eaten there for lunch (and we ate out on the patio), but we saw the steaks . . . they looked mouth watering.

I agree with all of the above, but especially Stratton who mentioned the Parasol at Wynn. (up or down) When I%26#39;ve been there, the place is teeming with women in LBD%26#39;s.

thank you all,

i%26#39;m sooo excited and counting down the days!

Try dinner at The Range at Harrahs. Low key with an old style Vegas feel and wonderful service. My hubby is a meat and potatos guy and he loves it there. Good steaks, great onion soup and the side dishes (including potatoes) are large enough to share. Oh.....and the little black dress will be great at this place. I also vote for drinks at the Wynn. Have fun!
