I will be coming to vegas with a first timer.
We have three nights at the strip but would like to do one night of partying and gambling down town before we go to the strip the next day.
We will be arriving late afternoon. Which hotel should we choose?
I%26#39;ve stayed at the Golden Nugget and the 4 queens. Liked both of them but they are a lot more expensive for that one night.
Is there another decent option?
downtown: nugget 129$, 4 queens 200$, rest 60$
I%26#39;m guessing this must be a weekend with rates like these. I%26#39;m no Downtown expert but I%26#39;m amazed that the 4 Queens is that much more expensive than GN.
Main Street Station gets a lot of good reviews but I%26#39;ll let those who know better guide you..... :-)
downtown: nugget 129$, 4 queens 200$, rest 60$
With rates like that you might as well just stay on the Strip another night for the same price.
Otherwise, I%26#39;d suggest El Cortez.
We just came back from Main Street Station. It was very good. But a full block from Freemont street. I recommecnd 4 Queens. That%26#39;s where we usually stay. Very convienent to watch the Freemont ST.shows. I don%26#39;t recommend El Cortez. But Freemont, Fitz, Plaza, California are ok.
If you are only interested in price, check the hotel out on trip advisor before booking. Also remember some people are never happy, so don%26#39;t look at only bad reviews. If you are there just to sleep it really wouldn%26#39;t make much difference where you stay.
i staid in 4queesn once and liked it but it now has a price tag of 200$. i guess there is a convention or something going on.
So 4Queens is out.
A would not agree with a poster that the Plaza would be ok- it will be cheap , yes,, but in my experienmce it is very shoddy and we stopped staying there years ago when it just became too much to tolerate.
I would look at Main St. Station- even though it means walking one block further- even the Fitz can be a bit ';iffy'; at times- certainly not up to the Four Queens / Nugget level- I would put Main St. as next best, but likely ( and hopefully) less expensive. That price for Four Queens is really surprising ( in a bad way.)
looks like its gonna be main street at 70 $ or california at 35$.
We always stay at the Main St. or the California. GREAT places to stay!....as long as you don%26#39;t mind staying about a block away from Fremont St.
jeroen: Hard to believe the 4 Queens is that expensive...I stayed 3 nights there last week for 30 dollars, plus tax, per night....booked with travelworm.com.....no problems with the reservaton (I always call a couple days before the trip to confirm)...nice room..close to everything..you might just check out travelworm to get another idea...
jeroen...please tell me what kind of room this is for $200. I just checked and I see petite suites going on some nights for that. Standard rooms are all well below that thru the end of the year.
I know, the site didnt say they where available aany more. The only thing it showes me is the petite suites.
