3 days las Vegas with 2 kids - Hotel /Grand Canyon/ Steacks!

We go july 16-19 to Las Vegas with two kids (10/13)coming from San Francisco by plane.

First question is about the hotels: I have looked at Treasure Island, RIO, Monte Carlo %26amp; Meridian Suites as possible options. In fact we do not have to stay at a casino hotel due to its restrictions for kids, a block away from the strip or a good shuttle connection would be fine as well. A nice pool area would be great without too many drunks hanging around.Last time I stayed at the MGM which did not impress me much.

Grand Canyon Tours:

we plan to take a heli to tour the Grand Canyon, I have seen many coupons/promotions in the past, now I cannot find them anymore!! Is it better to book in advance or onsite. A trip for 4 costs approx. $1400/day....

My son celebrates his 13 birthday in Vegas (!), any recommendation on a great steack or burger place?

Have you read the first post on this board titled ';125 things to do with your family?';

You are going to find drunks in Vegas .... I can%26#39;t help you there, a few days ago I was one of them.

Christian, I have one thought about the Grand Canyon. I find the difficulty with most tours of the Canyon is that they give very little time at the Canyon, usually an hour or so, but in some cases as little as a half hour. That is hardly enough time to appreciate the beauty of the GC. I don%26#39;t know if your kids will be satisfied or if they will feel short changed having to leave after a little while? Whatever tour you choose, ask for specific information about how much time you actually spend at viewing points at the GC. In my book, $1,400 is a HUGE pricetag for a one day trip.

There are a number of non-casino hotels near to or even on the Strip to consider such as:

Hilton Grand Vacations Club @ Flamingo;

Hilton GVC @ (North) Strip;

The Carriage House;

Platinum;

Four Seasons;

Signature @ MGM.

While I haven%26#39;t been, the Burger Bar in the Mandalay Bay casino has recieved positive reviews here. You can customize your burger in any way you want. Of course, he may be just as content with Fatburger on the Strip just north of MGM Grand or even In-And-Out Burger located at various nearby off-Strip locations.

There are lots of great steakhouses in Vegas although it%26#39;s unusual for a 13-year old to be sophisticated enough to ask for one. That said, I%26#39;d suggest the Steakhouse @ Circus Circus not only because it%26#39;s one of the ';best kept secrets'; in Vegas but also because your kids might appreciate the Adventuredome area elsewhere in the casino.
