Hi......my fiancee and I will be renting an SUV (Chevy Tahoe) for a week, while there for our Honeymoon in January. Are there any light to medium offroading trails around Vegas? Thanks!!
Offroading in/near Vegas?
Hi Mishka I%26#39;m not sure a Tahoe would be my choice for off roading particularly since it is a new rental vehicle. We too would like to do a little off roading so at the moment I%26#39;m looking at going out with Desert Fox tour in a Hummer for a few hours.

Offroading in/near Vegas?
Roadtrip, I went with desert Fox Tours on the desert safari tour last month. I just want to let you know that it is just driving on a road/trail in the desert, and not what I would consider ';off-roading.'; It was really cool to see the desert and then an area with a lot of joshua trees, but I was expecting to be riding up the hills in the desert and driving over large rocks, or something like that.
Thanks for the info kqouin.
I was planning to do the safari because I thought it would be the most adventurous but based on your comments it might not be what I was expecting. I was trying to come up with a 1/2 day out of Vegas activity that would interest the younger ones in our group, 25 age group but wouldn%26#39;t be too much for the 50 year olds. I was also looking at Sun Buggy. What I had really wanted to do was to go to Sedona to do Pink Jeeps Broken Arrow tour but that is too long a trip.
Any suggestions from posters would be greatly appreciated. Again thanks

True....but I wasn%26#39;t really talking about doing any rock crawling or anything like that. A Tahoe is good enough for light/medium offroading!
Roadtrip, how about going land sailing? I think it would be fun for the younger ones because they can drive fast, as long as the wind is there, and the older people can drive as fast as they feel comfortable. I think it looks like fun. There is also a race at the end of tour. This is the website:

There are a few dirt roads near Mt. Charleston. I don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s private. There are some gates and no trespassing signs in some areas. The desert isn%26#39;t really exciting. Stay on the roads, respect property. I wouldn%26#39;t got through a closed gate.
Kqouin - thanks for the tip on sailing I%26#39;ll check out the website.
Mishka - Good luck on the offroading and also Congrats on your upcoming wedding

RoadTrip4Fun, I%26#39;ve driven Sun Buggy%26#39;s dune buggies twice. The Nellis Dune Adventure is a good introduction. It%26#39;s a follow-the-leader type of tour, but is still a lot of fun if you%26#39;ve never driven in the sand dunes before. It%26#39;s not for anyone with a bad back, but it would be fine for physically fit 50 year olds. The Amargosa tour is incredible, but takes the better part of a day, and is both mentally and physically demanding. For more info on Amargosa and a couple of pictures, go to my web page at http://home.comcast.net/~lgott3141/Travel_LV_TripReport_2008_May-DuneBuggy-Amargosa.html .
Land sailing was a lot more fun that I expected, and is good for a wide range of ages. When I went, there were some 20 somethings that seemed to be having a great time - but so was a gentleman around sixty. Again, for a little more info and a couple of pictures, go to my web page at http://home.comcast.net/~lgott3141/Travel_LV_TripReport_2008_May-LandSailing.html .
Note on the above links: you%26#39;ll have to cut and paste the url%26#39;s, as tripadvisor can%26#39;t handle the tilde%26#39;s in the links.
