We are off to Vegas in NOvember for 16 days and wish to rent a car for one week. Is it cheaper to pre book in the UK beforehand, or wait until we arrive and rent one from the airport? Thanks! Ada Gosport Hampshire UK
Car rental cheaper???
Definitely prebook. Alot of discount offers require an advance reservation. Also, you can%26#39;t assume that you can walk up and still have a full selection to choose from. If the company has full size vehicles left, the person who prebooked a compact will get a free upgrade while you will be paying the full boat for the same car with no other options.
Car rental cheaper???
From previous posts on this forum most recommend advance reservations, especially for non US citizens.

you definately need to pre book a car when in the states. if you do not you will get hit for all sorts of insurances. when booking from here (uk) you can get an all in package. try dollar.co.uk.
I booked with dollar but through airlinenetwork.co.uk. better off with the platinum package only cost 拢6 extra but you get a free tank of fuel. ( bargain)
happy hunting and cruising

One should always pre-book a car if you want one in Vegas. You don%26#39;t want to have to pay the walk up rates for a car that you may not even like. The less expensive cars are usually not available with a reservation and I have had some luck with that since they will upgrade me a class or so. That won%26#39;t happen if you just go there without a reservation. For people who live in the US- you have to keep checking the rates even after you reserved a car- if the rates drop- you can get the cheaper rate. I have done that as many as three times with one reservation.
From everything I have read on this forum- you should reserve a car through a UK agency because of the insurance issue- among other things.
thanks everyone for the info on car hire, I will certainly pre book after your comments! Ada (UK)
