Grand Canyon day trip: north or south rim??

Hi

We will be in Vegas at the end of June and want to take a day trip to the Grand Canyon. We will have a rental car but want to travel by plane or helicopter to fit the trip into one day.

I fond all the info very confusing but research so far indicates avoiding the west rim, but should we visit north or south rim and which company offers the best trip and best price?

Many thanks

Sally

There%26#39;s much more to see and do at the south rim, and you can fly there by fixed wing aircraft. Helicopters that depart LV don%26#39;t go all the way to the GCNP.

thanks Redrox. Looks great and a very good price too.

Can%26#39;t wait!

Sally, just be aware that plane and helicopter trips leave you with relatively little time at the Canyon, in some cases as little as a half hour. Ask specifically how much time you will have at the South Rim. Most people choose to do these one day trips. I find them expensive and leaving folks wanting more after getting little more than a glimpse.

Hi Sally,

Have a great trip---one of my favorite parts of the world!

Michael is right, your time may be limited at the GC but then you will simply have to come back one day and do a proper road trip there. And the north rim is quite different to the south, it merits its own visit, via a nice leisurely drive through the Virgin River Gorge and Zion National Park...food for thought for the next vacation, maybe?

Enjoy your day!

Agreeing with kittygal and expanding. The Grand Canyon is huge. It%26#39;s impossibel to see it all in a day tip. But if you only have a day, at least try to see some of the best it has to offer. That can be found inside the Grand Canyon National Park, and the park at the South Rim has more to see and do in a short time, than any other place.

The North Rim is indeed a different environment. It is more remote, and requires more time just to get oriented and to see anything at all. I would never recommend a day tip to the NR. It would be all travel and no canyon.

The trip linked to above allows a minimal amount of time at the south rim, but it at least gets you there to where you can take in the vast views from a few different places in a short time slot.

The beset way to visit the GCNP is to plan an overnight stay with the best part of two days to explore the park and the rim. Going deeper requires even more time. If you get hooked, you%26#39;ll undertsand.

These words remind me of th Grand Canyon, north rim:

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.

When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur

And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Yep...I am definitely hooked...

Enjoy!
