TR - The Belliago

The Belliago – The good, the not so good and the ugly.

Caution – I usually stay at the Venetian or the Palazzo, this is my first stay at the Belliago. All comparisons I’m making are to a standard suite in the Venetian/Palazzo.

The Good

Check in was quick – I arrived at 1pm on a Sunday and was checked in within 10 minutes.

View room upgrade – I was offered a room upgrade to lake view for $25 a night. Well worth the money in my opinion. Since I was here for a conference I knew that I would need to spend some time in my room keeping in touch with the office. Working at my computer overlooking the fountains was a great de-stressor. Although it was a smoking room (the only view still available) I couldn’t detect any smoke smell.

Amenities – nice collection of shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and mouthwash – would have liked a bath gel though.

Lots of closet and drawer space in the armoire. Loved the shoe cubbies.

Housekeeping was excellent. Off I went to the conference each morning and by the time the conference was finished my room was spotless and well dusted with everything replenished.

I liked having the drawers in the bathroom vanity. Keeps things neat and out of sight.

Nice lighted makeup/shaving mirror.

Room service for early morning coffee was quick – about 20 minutes although they said 40. Orange juice was just sweet enough and served ice cold, my request for no berries in my pastries was met.

The bed was incredibly comfortable.

Wakeup call was on time. I was asked AM or PM and was also asked if I wanted a second call 15 minutes later.

The not so good.

Only one sink in the bathroom. When travelling with 2 people it can create some early morning congestion.

Toilet isn’t in separate WC.

No vanity table – ok I’m spoiled, but I like to sit, sip my coffee and put on my makeup.

Bathroom sink gurgled when someone (above or next door) used their sink. It was loud enough to be heard in the bedroom and a little disconcerting at night.

No chocolates with turn down service – a major omission in my opinion.

I missed not having a separate living room area, especially for morning coffee and reading the paper and chilling out. Also my travelling companion (the self proclaimed “Man of my dreams” likes to get up earlier than I do. Usually he can go to the living room and read or work on the computer.

The ugly

I can understand charging for Internet service, but to charge 12.99 for a “souvenir” Ethernet cable was too much! The connection was excellent though.

No printer/fax.

Other observations

The pool area was beautiful. Since the conference area overlooked the pools, I wandered out onto the balcony at various times throughout the day. There always appeared to be chaise lounges available around the pool.

If you are travelling with someone who likes video games, you may lose them in the Arcade. Lots of fun for gamers.

There were a lot of Brits and Aussies in town. You could tell by their accents when they apologized after bumping into you. To all my friends who drive on the left – here we not only drive on the right, we also walk on the right.

All in all an enjoyable stay

TR - The Belliago

We usually stay at the cheaper locations when we go as the airfare is so dear, but I have been really tempted by some of the reviews of the Bellagio and none of your negatives turned me off really. Thanks for the info.

LOL at walking on the right. We%26#39;re a couple of those Aussies and it%26#39;s really hard to walk on the %26#39;wrong%26#39; side. Don%26#39;t panic folks, I wouldn%26#39;t dream of hiring a car and attempting to drive that on the %26#39;wrong%26#39; side.

Thank you for your report, your negatives seemed to be more observation than real negatives. It sounds as if you enjoyed your stay at Bellagio.

As for the chocolates at bedtime, it seems to be a hit or miss thing there. Sometimes when I returned to my room they were there, sometimes not, very strange!

Thanks for sharing your B-review. Walking on the right.....classic! One of my top peeves in Vegas and at home. I commute through NYC everyday and all the tourists walk on left side of the side walk :-(

For a business trip, you did real fine with your accomodations. I hope your conference was productive and that you have a return trip planned in your near future.

Have a beautiful day!

Very nice trip report! Belliago is one hotel that we haven%26#39;t stayed in but would love to. Thanks for the review.

Glad you had an enjoyable stay. And thank you for comparing the 3!

Everything%26#39;s a ';souvenir'; these days... Makes it more valuable...lol

Nice observations and review! At first I read ';shaving mirror';, then %26#39;make up mirror%26#39;, thanks for clarifying who you were and were traveling with. LOL

Did you get out and have some fun?

LOVED what you said about walking on the right. So nicely put!

Thank you for posting.

Thanks for the TR! We love the Bellagio and will be there in a few weeks.

Interesting about walking on the right When i go to new york is it better to walk on the right, its something I dont ever think about is is better so you dont bump into any one.

The Bellagio has an arcade? Where? I love staying at Bellagio and my DH doesn%26#39;t, but he loves arcades and this would be a great way to entice him to stay there.

Oh goodness.

I have never thought about what side of the pavement I walk on.

I live in London and I always find it really annoying when tourists don%26#39;t stand on the right side of the escelator so that I can walk up the left side.

I promise to try and walk on the right on my next trip but I can%26#39;t gurantee anything cos I can%26#39;t tell my left from my right.
